Introduction
Globalization, which was expected to benefit the US economy enormously, is posing a major threat to the US economy as a whole. The country's trade deficit has continued to increase and thousands of American workers have lost their jobs.

The trend of lost jobs is at all time high for the entire period following the Great Depression of the 1930s, and the losses are especially high in the manufacturing sector. Three decades ago, during the initial stages of globalization, many economists termed it 'a boon' to the US economy.
